Feeling a little sluggish? Here is my health secret...

Two words: GREEN SMOOTHIES.

Oh my goodness, my life is transforming. And I couldn't wait any longer to fill everyone in. Please meet my new best friend.......

This was my Christmas present from my oh so wonderful husband. I have been drinking them for just about 2 weeks. I have always struggled with energy. I always want a nap in the middle of the day. I am always exhausted. I also have trouble with digestion. I have struggled with anxiety and depression since I was 15. Enter: Nutribullet. I command every person reading this post to go buy one of these right now. It is the best money I have ever spent. I am feeling like a different person. And I am not the only one noticing. Every one in my life is asking what is different with me. I had started green smoothies in the past. But because I had a ninja blender and it was so big and hard to clean I wasn't ever using it consistently enough. This nutribullet allows me to make my smoothie in LESS than a minute and clean it in about 30 seconds. Oh my gosh like I would be a spokes person for Nutribullet if they would have me. Anyone in front of my face in hearing about this magical health tool.

But what is so cool about the Nutribullet? Other than the fact that it is 600 watts used for a single serving cup....
"Unlike everyday juicers and blenders, the nutribullet completely breaks down ingredients in to their most nutritious, and absorptive state!" (Taken from the Nutribullet website)

I encourage you to do some research. Green smoothies have been regarded as a great health tool. Especially for people like me who have awful health habits and live on fast food. My body was WAY out of whack. I never eat fruits and vegetables. And literally the only way to get them into my body is to make it into a sip-able drink! So here you go. Below is the recipe I have been using recently.

Step 1

Fill the cup with 2 handfuls of greens. My smoothie contains 1 handful of spinach and 1 of kale. You can use any kind of greens you would like. If you are just starting out on smoothies, I would just start off with spinach and add the darker richer greens as your tastebuds adjust.

Step 2

Add 1-1 1/2 cup fruit. My smoothie has half cup strawberries. 1/2 cup banana and a half fiji apple. Again use whatever fruit you have on hand. I have used mango chunks, boysenberries, and pears. Use whatever you've got laying around.

Step 3

Fill the water up to the "max" line and add any "boosts." My added boosts to this smoothie as chia seeds and flax seeds. I wanted to get some extra protein and FIBER. As well as my omega 3's and LOADS and LOADS of ENERGY. I also sometimes add Goji berries. I would google "super foods" and see what appeals to you as to what you want to add.

Finished Smoothie

This finished smoothie picture even looks thicker than it actually is. It is completely pulverized. There are no chunks. And that includes the skin on the apple. It is is like a juice. And it tastes really good. The banana is a must if you need to mask the greens taste. If you still need it sweeter then you can add stevia or agave.

Passion Pill 14 day challenge

Are you up for a challenge? This simple healthy decision to implement smoothies has literally changed the way I feel. I have more energy for every area of my life. Whereas, before I either had no energy or just enough to get through work and I was a zombie at the end of the night. Now I am still bouncing off the walls by the end of the night. I challenge everybody whether you are unhealthy or not to try having 1-2 smoothies a day for 2 weeks. They can be simple or complex. Just make sure you include equal amounts of greens with fruits and then water to top it off. And let me know how you feel. I make my personal guarantee that you will be satisfied. You will feel better. Your anxiety will decrease. You will be shocked at how much happier you feel. Should you choose to accept this challenge, I want to know how it goes!! Let me know what your results are. I'm excited for you :)

As always, I am always available on Facebook for any questions you may have.

  3. the smoothies are much better if you use coconut water, or almond milk, or an almond/coconut milk blend (blue diamond has a great one). I find by doing this they are much more satisfying and more palatable than using just h2o as my liquid.
